Alan Law, born in Wigan, a self-confessed sports tragic, remembers going to his first game of rugby league with his father at Central Park. His greatest memory of that day was witnessing “the great Billy Boston crossing the line with four St Helens tacklers hanging off him”….way back in 1959. It set in concrete his passion for Rugby League. In1969 he moved to St Helens where he could continue to feed his passion by witnessing even more great rugby league at the Knowsley Road ground...home of the Saints. In 1974 Alan arrived on the shores of Australia, but It wasn’t until around 2001 that his passion for sport in general took another turn...his collection of sporting memorabilia started to grow with the inclusion of all sports memorabilia….and it is still growing. Whilst the Titans are his team of choice, the maroons and the green and gold, of course, take top spots. His passion for the game, though, ensures he remains neutral...just look at the variety in his vast collection. Alan particularly wanted to, “thank the many people who have assisted me by way of autographing and supplying a variety of artifacts”. After several years of trying to establish his dream of a Hall of Fame, the Surfers Paradise RSL had the foresight to see the big picture and encouraged and assisted Alan with the display we see today. |
